The engine pumps water out of the exhaust.

– Brazil – Crossing the Oiapoque River

To get from Brazil across the Oiapoque river to French Guyana the R1 goes in a small boat.

- Bolivia - Speed Record on Salar de Uyuni

During his travel Sjaak visited Salar de Uyuni, at 12,000 square kilometres/4,633 square miles, it is the globe’s largest salt flat.
What to do there if you are seated on an R1 :-)
Make sure you have the volume turned up!

– Honduras – Copán Ruins

Sjaak visits the relics of the Maya culture.

– USA to Russia

While visiting friends in Phoenix, Arizona, Sjaak learned that it would be best to go to Alaska to get to the next continent. If he was ready at Anchorage airport 6,000 kilometres away within a week, he could fly to Magadan, Russia, for a low price. His host Taylor then offered his help to make that happen.

– Russia – Shovel Ride

A bridge under construction is no problem when a helpful Russian shovel driver is around…
